The Splitting Headache

Throughout the evening of November 6, Arthur could hardly sleep. His night was filled with dreams. He dreamed mostly of his former associate Perry Stevens, whom he had known for ten years.  Perry had at first invited him to join his business. During the last two years they had quarreled about Perry's business and Perry suspected that Arthur wanted to run it. Arthur denied that vehemently. Then, mysteriously, Perry had an accident. He fell down his stairs to his cellar. Perry's wife Christine had him sent to the hospital where they diagnosed that he had a heart attack at the moment of accident. She wondered why. Perry had good health most of his life. But in the hospital, Perry suspected that Arthur had cursed him. Christina did not believe it.

Perry died that night in the hospital. But his mind was riveted to Arthur. He could neither forget nor forgive Arthur. So, on the evening of November 6, Arthur dreamed of Perry.

Perry glowered at him in visible rage. He pointed at Arthur accusingly and hissed that Arthur caused him the heart attack. Arthur denied it. He said he neither knew nor practiced curses. He could not understand how Perry had been sick. Then, suddenly, Arthur suffered a splitting headache. He felt first that his head seemed to split in two. Then it actually did.  Arthur died in bed that night. But he neither met Perry afterwards nor ever dreamed if him again.
A man suddenly suffers a serious literally splitting headache after dreaming of his former business partner, who suffers a heart attack but thinks the man cursed him.
