The Babylonian Commandments
For Puabi

"Thou shalt love until thy death
Thou shalt care for each other till death and beyond
Thou shalt remain together in spite of war or tragedy
Thou shalt remember each other forever"

Thus was I bestowed these commandments
Upon the eve that she came to me
Warm wet tears in her tender eyes
As she gazed on me
One single request locked in her heart
Over many a century
"Love me"
I have obeyed implicitly
And the pleasure of deep love is mine
Nobody will see or know Puabi
Even when I die
Her heart is eternally mine
